Treatments for Long Covid using qEEG guided Neurofeedback.

It is impossible to over-state the impact that the Covid-19 pandemic has had on our lives. We have lived through an extraordinary time. Many of us lost loved ones, children have lost years of normal school and social interaction, and the world we took for granted has been changed forever.

Most of us experienced some form of Covid and recovered, but for some, the symptoms have lingered, causing what the CDC calls “Long COVID”, or “Post-COVID Conditions”. Many of these symptoms are neurological, going beyond a feeling of tiredness and fatigue to include “brain fog”, chronic fatigue and difficulties with executive function, attention, and memory. (Similar symptoms can be caused by any chronic infection, including Lyme disease, or concussion.)

Gray Matters is increasingly seeing people with “long covid”, often high functioning people describing cognitive difficulties they never experienced before, and which they cannot shake-off. While these symptoms are new, reflecting unwelcome changes in function, brain imaging shows these symptoms look very much like other, chronic issues, such as ADHD and depression - under-active and tuned-out.

Gray Matters uses a highly advanced form of qEEG brain imaging called SW LORETA (standard weighted low-resolution brain electromagnetic tomography). Non-invasive and easy to administer, this technique can show the subtle changes in function that occur post-infection, identifying the affected areas and quantifying the extent of change. Even more extraordinary, sophisticated measurement of brain connectivity, shows how this affects how the brain functions as a networked, connected organ. This information is then used to create advanced neurofeedback programs, customized for each person, training the brain to restore function.

While these symptoms are new, reflecting an unwelcome change in function, brain imaging shows these symptoms look very much like other issues, such as ADHD and depression

Our Treatments are Effective and Measurable

Gray Matters uses highly sophisticated SW LORETA neurofeedback, we can target the specific brain areas we identified as being under-active, rewarding them for returning to normal function. Our approach, of matching symptoms to measured brain function to create personalized neurofeedback, has proved highly effective.
